3/23/2024 - Willamette River, Stevens Point, Portland, OR

Time: 2.78 hours Distance: 9.04 miles We put into the Willamette River from Stevens Point, paddled down river then around Ross Island. Into the Ross Island lagoon where we saw dozens of 2-3 fish jumping out of the water, then back up-river for some distance before returning to Stevens Point. There were quite a few boat on the river but we avoided most of the rain until the final couple minutes before we got out. All in all a decent winter paddle. Lynda preparing to put in. 3/16/2024 - Lake River/Columbia River, Ridgefield Kayak Launch, Ridgefield, WA

Time: 2.7 hours Distance: 9.23 miles We put into Lake River at the Ridgefield Kayak Launch, paddled down-river to Bachelor Island Slough, up-river on the Slough to the Columbia River, down-river on the Columbia back to Lake River then back up-river to the original put-in. The day was clear, sunny and warm with very light winds and little traffic on the water. We saw well in excess of a dozen Sea Lions on the Columbia and a number of Bald Eagles as well. 3/9/2024 - Tualatin River, Hwy 99 Bridge Kayak Launch, Tualatin, OR

Time: 2.8 hours Distance: 8.38 miles We put into the Tualatin River at the Kayak Launch under the Hwy 99 bridge in Tualatin, OR. The river was fairly high and flowing quickly and we paddled up-river for about two hours before turning back. It rained lightly on and off through the trip and the wind was blowing most of the time though we were a bit sheltered from it by the banks of the river. Lynda preparing to put in. 2/18/2024 - Trask River/Dougherty Slough/Stillwell Slough, Carnahan Park, Tillamook, OR

Time: 2.83 hours Distance: 9.26 miles We put into the Trask River at Carnahan Park in Tillamook, OR, paddled down-river then onto Dougherty Slough which we followed as far as we could. We then turned back and headed up Stillwell Slough again as far as we could before finally turning back and heading back to Carnahan Park. The tide was going out the entire trip and the last stretch on the Trask River was very slow going making for a tough final push. We had some drizzle in the first half-hour of the trip but then it stopped and we enjoyed dry conditions with little rain for the rest of the trip. 2/17/2024 - Nehalem River, Nehalem, OR

Time: 2.65 hours Distance: 9 miles We put into the Nehalem River in Nehalem, OR and paddled up-river to the Necanicum Bridge before turning back. We encountered rain on an off through the trip and a bit a wind on our way back but no other river traffic which helped make for a good paddle. Lynda preparing to put in. 2/3/2024 - Columbia River, Louis Rasmussen Beach Park, Kalama, WA

Time: 2.87 hours Distance: 10.61 miles We put into the Columbia River at Louis Rasmussen Beach Park in Kalama, WA on a beautiful day. The sun was shinning and there was almost no wind. We paddled up-river, around Martin Island and back. Throughout the trip the sun was out, the wind was almost non-existent, the water was smooth and there was almost no river traffic. 12/16/2023 - Multnomah Channel/Willamette River, Sauvie Island Boat Ramp, Sauvie Island, OR

Time: 2.8 hours Distance: 9.12 miles We put into Multnomah Channel at the Sauvie Island Boat Ramp and paddled up-river to the Willamette River then up-river again for a short distance before turning back. The day was cool with temperatures in the low 40s but there was little or no wind and very few boats. A pleasant winter paddle. Lynda preparing to put in. 11/18/2023 - Tualatin River, Farmington Paddle Launch, Hillsboro, OR

Time: 2.37 hours Distance: 7.87 miles We put into the Tualatin River from the Farmington Paddle Launch for a shorter trip. The river was running higher than summer but not as high as we've seen previously so we paddled down river (a trip we hadn't made in quite some time) to the Eagle Landing before turning back. The day was cool at a bit overcast but we avoided rain so it turned out to be a pleasant paddle. Lynda preparing to put in. The Tualatin River early in the paddle. Lynda paddling down-river. 11/10/2023 - Wilson River, Memaloose Point, Tillamook, OR

Time: 2.97 hours Distance: 9.67 miles We put in at Memaloos Point in Tillamook, OR, paddled across the Tillamook River to where the Wilson River meets it then up the Wilson until it became two swift to paddle and then back. The day was cool with intermittent rain and we encountered a number of small boats fishing on the river but the paddle was a new one for us and we enjoyed it. Lynda preparing to put in.
