Dane and Lynda Kayak

Time: 3/13 hours Distance: 9.99 miles We put into the Columbia River at Collin's Beach on Sauvie Island and paddled up-river for about five miles before turning back. The river was the calmest we'd ever seen. It was almost glassy and the paddling was extremely smooth for most of the trip. We only encountered a couple boats on the way back, the wind was never more than a light breeze and we escaped all rain. A nice winter paddle. Lynda preparing to put in. Time: 2.97 hours Distance: 10.01 miles   We put into the Willamette River at Stevens Point and paddled up-river to Oswego Landing before turning back. The day was cool with highs in the low 40's but the wind was light, there was no rain and the river was almost empty of traffic making for a pleasant paddle.   Lynda preparing to put in. Time: 2.78 hours Distance: 8.83 miles   We put in at St. Helens public dock and headed up Multnomah Channel to where it meets Scappoose Bay then onto a long slough through the end of Sauvie Island. Rain started almost the moment we got in the water and it continued throughout the trip finally stopping just before we got out. However, the winds were very light, the water was totally calm and we encountered very few boats.    Lynda preparing to put in. The Channel just after leaving St. Helens. Time: 2.97 hours Distance: 9.77 miles We put into the Willamette River at Hebb Park and paddled up-river just past the I5 bridge to the railroad bridge. The day was cool but bright an sunny, with little wind and absolutely no rive traffic. An absolutely glorious winter paddle. Lynda preparing to put in. Lynda paddling up-river. Time: 3.08 hours Distance: 10.35 miles We put into the East Form of the Lewis River from Paradise Point Park and paddled up-river approximately five miles before turning back. The day was cool with temperatures in the low 40's and we got a fair amount of rain early in the trip though it stopped after about an hour. The trip was quiet with no other river traffic and the winds were light so after the early heavy rain the paddle was very pleasant. Lynda preparing to put in. Lynda paddling up-river. Time: 2.95 hours Distance: 10.05 We put into Multnomah Channel at the Sauvie Island Boat Ramp on Thanksgiving morning. We paddled up-stream to the Willamette River then up river for a while longer before turning back. The day was cool but bright and sunny and there was no river traffic which made for a very pleasant paddle. Lynda preparing to put in. Time: 2.74 hours Distance: 9.01 miles Back to the Farmington Paddle Launch and onto the Tualatin river. We put in on a sunny winter day and paddle up-river for several miles before turning back. We had sun, very light wind and no rain on the entire trip and we saw only one small boat. A nice easy Saturday paddle. Lynda preparing to put in. Dane preparing to put in. Time: 3.07 hours Distance: 9.23 miles We put into the North Fork of the Nehalem River from the Alderval Count Boat Ramp (the end point of our trip on the river a few weeks previously) and paddled up-river until we were blocked only about a half mile in. We turned back and paddled down-river to the bridge in Nehalem and then turned back and paddled back up-river to the ramp exploring a couple side-sloughs along the way. The day was sunny, the wind was very light and we only encountered one boat on the trip. A very nice paddle. Lynda preparing to put in. Paddling up-river just after putting in.
