Dane and Lynda Kayak

Time: 2.45 hours Distance: 8.17 miles   We put into the Columbia River from Broughton Beach Park in Portland and paddled up-river to the I205 Bridge before turning back. It was a warm day with light winds and the park was fairly busy but the river traffic was surprisingly light. The wind picked up just a bit on the way back and near the end the water got a little rougher but overall a very pleasant paddle.    Lynda preparing to put in.  A view of the Columbia with the I205 Bridge and a hazy Mt. Time: 3 hours Distance: 8.5 miles   We put into the Deschutes River for the second time in as many days. This time we put in at La Pine State Park just a few miles up-river of where we'd turned back the day before. We paddled up-river until we hit rapids then back. Another warm day with only a few floaters for river traffic. The current up was fairly strong slowing us down quite a lot but the trip back wasn't much more than a lazy float. Time: 3.13 hours Distance: 9.01 miles   We put into the Deschutes River from Big River Campground near Sun River OR on a beautiful warm morning. We paddled up-river for several miles before turning back. The only traffic was a couple of people floating down-river and one, slow, motor boat which was great.
