11/23/2024 - Multnomah Channel/Willamette River, Sauvie Island Boat Ramp, Sauvie Island, OR

Image
Time: 2.63 hours Distance: 9.16 miles We put into Multnomah Channel aft Sauvie Island Boat Ramp, paddled up river connecting with the Willamette River and then up-river again about half-way to the St. John's Bridge before turning back. Though there had been rain all week including the morning before we left (and later in the day) we had a completely dry paddle with little wind and actually a fair amount of blue sky and sunshine. A totally unexpected beautiful day for paddling. Lynda preparing to put in. Lynda in the Willamette River as we turn back. Sauvie Island bridge on the way back. Great sticker on the car of a fellow kayaker.

11/8/2024 - Nehalem River, Nehalem, OR

Time: 3.53 hours Distance: 10.7 miles We put into the Nehalem River at Nehalem on the morning of Dane's birthday. We paddled up-river past the Necanicum Hwy bridge before turning back. The day was overcast but pleasant temperatures for November and we encountered very little wind and only one boat on the way (a row boat paddled by a grumpy guy who decided he should but into our conversation from across the river). Other than the brief encounter with the asshole the trip was very nice. Lynda preparing to put in. Dane preparing to put in. Lynda paddling early in the trip. Dane taking a "happy birthday" phone call from Ian early in the trip. A view of the Nehalem River shortly after turning around.  The Necanicum Highway bridge on the way back. Picture evidence of us breaking the law. Don't tell anyone.

Time: 2.5 hours Distance: 8.48 miles We put into the Tualatin River at Brown's Ferry Park in Tualatin, OR and paddled up-river just past the Highway 99 bridge before turning back. The day was overcast but there was no rain and very little wind. The river was a bit high but totally void of traffic making for a great paddle. Lynda preparing to put in. Dane preparing to put in. A bridge on the way towards Cook Park. Lynda paddling up-river. A view of the Tualatin River.
