Image
Time: 3 hours Distance: 9.22 miles We put into the Willamette River at Rogers Landing Park in Newberg, OR, paddled up-river to where the Yamhill enters the Willamette then back. A beautiful day with temperatures in the low 80's and light winds. There were a fair number of boaters but the paddle was still very pleasant. Lynda preparing to put in. Lynda looking for rocks on the bank. A view of the Willamette on the way back. Lynda padding back.

Time: 2.7 hours Distance: 8.6 miles We put into Potholes Reservoir at Potholes State Park south of Moses Lake and spend the trip paddling through the wetland islands. Another hot day was forecast (107 F) so we were in the water early. We saw quite a variety of wildlife including all manner of birds, giant carp splashing an jumping constantly in the shallow water and several deer foraging on the small islands. Lynda preparing to put in. Dane preparing to put in. Lynda paddling the lake.

7/9/2024 - Moses Lake, Blue Heron Park, Moses Lake, WA

Time: 2.8 hours Distance: 8/48 miles We put into Moses Lake at Blue Heron Park just a short distance across the lake from our hotel. We again started out quite early as the day was forecast to hit 107 F (which it did). We paddled south under I90 and around Gailey's Island before working our way back. We started to paddle into the northern section of the lake but then Lynda's kayak started leaking through a small crack in the bottom so we quickly paddled back and got out. Lynda preparing to put in. Lynda paddling on the lake with Gailey's Island behind here. Our hotel from the lake. After beers at Moore Brewing.

7/8/2024 - Moses Lake, Connelley Park, Moses Lake, WA

Image
Time: 3.11 hours Distance: 9.95 miles We put into Moses Lake at Connelley Park early in the morning of what would be a very hot day (reached 105 F). We paddled west for several miles before returning to the park to get out. The morning got quite warm and there was very little breeze but there were also very few boats and the water was calm though quite filled with algae. The landscape was pretty barren so there wasn't a lot to look at but the trip was pleasant though a plunge into the lake would have been a very welcome way to end if it wasn't for how dirty the water was. Lynda preparing to put in. Lynda paddling on Moses Lake. Dane paddling through a fountain to cool off a bit. Moses Lake sure is green. After beers at Ten Pin Brewing in Moses Lake.
