6/24/2023 - Scappoose Bay/Multnomah Channel, Scappoose Bay Marina, Scappose, OR

Image
Time: 3.32 hours Distance: 9.91 miles We put into Scappoose Bay from the Scappoose Bay Marina on a beautiful sunny day. We paddled West to the end of the Bay then up-river on Multnomah Channel for several miles before turning back. Winds got somewhat heavy in places especially in the Channel on the way back and there was a fair amount of traffic but the paddle was enjoyable. Lynda preparing to put in.  Lynda paddling near the end of the Bay before entering Mulnomah Channel. A mother deer and her fawn. It doesn't show in the picture but the fawn still had its white spots. Lynda paddling up the Channel with Mt. St. Helens in the background. Dane paddling back down the Channel. After beers at John's Marketplace in Beaverton.

Time: 3 hours Distance: 10.12 miles We put into the Willamette River at Stevens Point once again but this time paddled down-river to just past the I405 Bridge before turning back. The day was partially cloudy with temperatures in the high 60s and mostly light winds. There was a bit of river traffic but still relatively light for the time of year. Lynda preparing to put in. Interesting shore-break put in for new construction near the waterfront. Lynda paddling under the I405 Bridge. Dane paddling under a pier just before turning back. A view from under the pier. Lynda outside the pier. After cider (not the same ring as after beer) at Portland Cider House.

6/10/2023 - Lake Merwin, Speelyai Park, WA

Image
Time: 3.6 hours Distance: 11.19 miles We put into Lake Merwin at Speelyai Park on a beautiful day. Initially it was sunny with light wind and little traffic. We paddled along the shore west until we reached Jim Creek then went up the creek as far as we could before turning back. When we got back to the lake we found that the wind had picked up and we had to fight rough waters all the way back with swells sometimes as high as 2'. A rough trip back made for two tired paddlers. Lynda preparing to put in. Dane sitting on the lake. Lynda paddling back to the lake from a small creek.  Paddling up a small creek.  Coming out of Jim Creek to the lake.  After beers at Steeplejack Brewing.

Time: 3.18 hours Distance: 9.81 miles   We put into the Willamette River from Rogers Landing Park in Newberg, OR on a beautiful sunny day. There was a light breeze most of the day and some river traffic though much lighter than we'd expected for such a nice day. We paddled up-river to just past where the Yamhill River enters the Willamette before taking a short break then paddling back. Another great trip.    Lynda preparing to put in. Lynda looking for rocks during a short break on the beach. Dane paddling back down-river. After beers at Von Ebert Brewing.
